Vietnam offers attractive incentives to attract semiconductor and AI experts

13-07-2024

Our country is aiming to become a regional technology center in the field of semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) through a comprehensive development strategy and attractive investment incentives. This strategy focuses on training high-quality human resources, international cooperation, and creating a favorable business environment for investors.

Effective strategy and vision for Vietnam’s semiconductor and AI industry

To make Vietnam a semiconductor human resource supply center by 2030 and achieve semiconductor production capacity similar to Korea by 2040-2050, the Government has assigned the Ministry of Information and Communications to (Ministry of Information and Communications) develop a specific semiconductor industry development strategy with orientations on infrastructure, investment, human resources, and high technology.

To create opportunities to attract investment to the industry, the Government will create an open and favorable investment environment for domestic and foreign investors to participate in the semiconductor industry. Vietnam will provide attractive investment incentives for investors in the semiconductor sector, including tax exemptions, tax reductions, and financial support.

In addition, with the specific characteristics of the AI industry, the promulgation of an AI law to create a legal framework for AI development and application in Vietnam is also supported by many people.

Training highly qualified semiconductor and AI human resources

The government has just approved the training project for high-quality human resources in the semiconductor industry to train 50,000 workers by 2030, contributing to turning Vietnam into a center for supplying high-quality semiconductor human resources in the region.

Vietnam aims to train highly qualified human resources

The project focuses on two main areas:

– Training 15,000 chip design engineers: These are core human resources in the semiconductor industry, responsible for designing and developing semiconductor circuits.

– Training 35,000 engineers in other fields: Engineering, test engineers, software engineers, etc., plays an important role in the operation and management of semiconductor manufacturing operations.

Develop high quality human resources for the industry sell guide and AI

Regarding human resource development goals, At the 8th Conference of the Central Executive Committee term other fields, including 5,000 AI engineers. Currently, the country has approximately 250 schools, of which the technical training sector with the potential to transform into semiconductor training accounts for about 160 schools, and especially 35 schools possess semiconductor training majors.

To achieve this goal, 30 universities will be invested in upgrading facilities, equipment, and teaching staff. 1,300 lecturers will receive in-depth training in the semiconductor industry to meet teaching and research needs.

The project also encourages cooperation between universities and businesses in the semiconductor industry to develop training programs suitable to the needs of the future market.

With strong investment from the Government and the cooperation of universities and businesses, the project of training high-quality human resources for the semiconductor industry is expected to contribute to promoting the development of Vietnam’s semiconductor industry. South, making Vietnam a center for supplying high-quality semiconductor human resources in the region and the world.

Linking Bilateral Cooperation with Korea

Vietnam wants to attract investment from Korean businesses in the semiconductor industry and AI. Korean companies can contribute to the development of the Vietnamese semiconductor industry by transferring advanced technology and sharing management experience.

Bilateral cooperation is being promoted

Our country is also experiencing a shortage of high-quality human resources in the semiconductor and AI fields. Korean universities can support Vietnam in human resource training through cooperation programs, student and lecturer exchanges, as well as providing scholarships for Vietnamese students.

The two governments can sign a cooperation agreement in the semiconductor industry and AI to promote bilateral cooperation. This agreement may include provisions for information sharing, research cooperation, and mutual support in human resource development. The two governments can organize seminars and conferences to exchange information, share experiences, and discuss cooperation opportunities in the semiconductor industry and AI.

Cooperation with Korea plays an important role in Vietnam’s semiconductor and AI industry development strategy. The Government of Vietnam is committed to creating favorable conditions for bilateral cooperation and looks forward to working closely with Korea to achieve common goals in this field.

Incentives and policies for investors

Vietnam is implementing preferential policies to attract domestic and foreign investment in the semiconductor and AI industries. The goal of this policy is to turn Vietnam into a center for supplying high-quality semiconductor human resources by 2030 and achieve semiconductor production capacity equivalent to South Korea by 2040-2050.

The Ministry of Information and Communications is drafting the Digital Technology Industry Law, which includes specific regulations for the semiconductor and AI sectors. This law aims to create a complete legal framework to attract investment and promote the development of science technology and innovation in this field.

Incentives and policies for investors

With the Government’s determination and attractive preferential policies, Vietnam is expected to become an attractive destination for investors in the semiconductor and AI fields. The Digital Technology Industry Law will play an important role in creating a complete legal framework, attracting investment, promoting science technology, and innovation, and contributing to Vietnam’s successful implementation of its goals.

Vietnam is gradually laying a solid foundation with high-quality human resources for the strong development of the semiconductor and AI industry in the future. Stay tuned to FPT Semiconductor for more information about the semiconductor industry and work opportunities!
