July 31, 2025 — FPT Semiconductor and FPT University officially welcomed Gachon University, the world’s first university specializing in semiconductors, to discuss and launch a strategic collaboration aimed at nurturing the next generation of semiconductor talent in Vietnam. The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between FPT University and Gachon University, setting the stage for academic initiatives that align with Vietnam’s national roadmap of cultivating 10,000 semiconductor engineers by 2040.

As part of the collaboration, the two institutions agreed to jointly implement twocore educational programs:
- Short-Term Training Program: FPT University students will have the opportunity to participate in a one-month intensive training course at Gachon University’s semiconductor lab in Korea. The program, equivalent to 135 learning hours or 9 academic credits, offers direct hands-on experience with cutting-edge semiconductor technologies.
- Gachon–FPTU College of Semiconductor Program: The two universities plan to co-develop a joint semiconductor education curriculum under the name Gachon – FPTU Semiconductor University. This future-oriented initiative will adopt Gachon University’s academic model and aims to establish Vietnam’s first university dedicated to semiconductor education. And a specialized 2+2 academic track will be launched for FPT students majoring in IC design, allowing them to complete their final two years at Gachon University. The program includes tuition support, with additional funding of 1 million KRW for students who obtain TOPIK Level 4 or higher in Korean proficiency. Students continuing to a Master’s degree may also qualify for full scholarships.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is designed to promote academic exchanges — including the exchange of faculty members, scholars, students, information, and academic materials. This collaboration is expected to enhance both research and education efforts, while deepening mutual understanding between faculty and students of both institutions.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in building a globally competitive workforce for Vietnam’s growing semiconductor industry. With Gachon University’s pioneering expertise and FPT’s semiconductor ecosystem, the collaboration will enhance the development of high-quality semiconductor talent.
This partnership also underscores FPT Corporation’s commitment to supporting the Vietnamese government’s national objective of training 10,000 semiconductor professionals by 2040. By bridging education and industry through international partnerships, FPT aims to establish Vietnam as a hub for semiconductor innovation and talent.
