Hanoi, September 28, 2025 – At the Conception Day event for the first cohort of students at Asia University Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang, CEO of FPT Semiconductor, a member company of FPT Corporation, delivered an inspiring speech sharing the journey and aspirations of Vietnam’s generation of semiconductor engineers. He also expressed his strong belief in the young generation – the key drivers who will help make Vietnam a bright spot on the global semiconductor map.
Asia University Vietnam is an international undergraduate program jointly established by FPT University and Asia University, Taiwan — ranked among the Top 401–500 universities worldwide (THE, 2025). In January 2025, the two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in semiconductor design education. Under the program, students will study two years in Vietnam and two years in Taiwan, earning a degree from Asia University.
Conception Day was not only a welcome event for the first batch of students but also a meaningful milestone marking the beginning of their international academic journey. From this moment, these future engineers embark on a new chapter of learning, exploration, and self-development on the global stage.
Sharing with the students, Mr. Quang recounted the story of his own generation — the “second wave” of Vietnamese semiconductor engineers in the 2000s, when foreign corporations first began establishing representative offices and design houses in Vietnam.
He recalled that, during his time working in Shanghai, as he stood by the Huangpu River, he saw skyscrapers bearing the logos of leading global chip companies — but not a single Vietnamese brand. “When will Vietnamese people make a name for themselves in this industry?” That question, he said, became the driving force behind his and his colleagues’ aspirations.
Mr. Quang affirmed that Vietnamese people are fully capable of mastering high technology, thanks to their strong intellectual foundation and exceptional analytical thinking. “Vietnamese students have long excelled in mathematics, physics, and chemistry as proven by our many gold medals in international Olympiads. This shows we have the capability not only to succeed but to rise to the regional and global level.”
According to Mr. Quang, Vietnam is entering a breakthrough phase with several major government policies supporting the semiconductor industry (Decree No. 1017 and No. 1018). The national goal is to train 50,000 semiconductor engineers by 2030, and today’s students will be the next generation empowered to build a world-class semiconductor sector.
Addressing the students, he said: “You are joining a 2+2 program after studying in Taiwan, you can return to Vietnam to contribute or continue working abroad. Five or ten years from now, some of you may become CEOs of Vietnamese semiconductor companies. I deeply believe you will be the next generation of semiconductor engineers who bring pride to our nation.”
Conception Day 2025 not only opened a gateway to knowledge but also awakened a spirit of aspiration and responsibility among young engineers. The speech by the CEO of FPT Semiconductor further strengthened the confidence of Asia University Vietnam students as they embark on their international journey, carrying Vietnamese intellect to the world and contributing to the country’s growing presence in the global semiconductor value chain.
