On September 10, 2025, at FPT Tower, Mr. Tran Dang Hoa – Chairman of FPT IS and Chairman of FPT Semiconductor – together with representatives from FPT Semiconductor, FPT University, and FPT Polytechnic, held a discussion with a delegation of Japanese partners Nisso Corporation and MRIV International LLC. The two companies and FPT had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on semiconductor workforce development between Vietnam and Japan in April 2025, witnessed by the Prime Ministers of both countries.

Mr. Kenji Fujino – President and Representative Director of Nisso Corporation – noted that the strategy for training and recruiting semiconductor talent in Japan is undergoing major changes. According to a survey of demand from 4 semiconductor alliances in Japan, demand is rising particularly for positions such as maintenance engineers, production managers, and quality managers. With a high level of automation, the required skill sets in the industry are also evolving. In particular, back-end processes (assembly, testing, packaging) are experiencing rapid technological transformation, requiring the workforce to be highly adaptable.

Nisso also presented FPT with a list of job positions needed in the semiconductor and automotive industries, expressing expectations to collaborate with FPT in building corresponding training programs.
Following this, Mr. Miyano – Business Development Manager of Nisso Corporation – introduced a long-term training program proposal with FPT Polytechnic in the fields of semiconductors, automotive, and electronics. Nisso also showcased its VR-based training technology, which would allow Vietnamese students to gain a learning experience similar to that in Japan.

On behalf of FPT University, Mr. Nguyen Khanh Toan – Acting Head of International Cooperation – shared: “FPT University currently offers a major in Semiconductor IC Design with more than 1,000 students enrolled, and we plan to recruit an additional 1,000 new students this year. In addition, we provide training in software and AI, ready to supply talent that meets Nisso’s requirements.”
Representing FPT Polytechnic, Mr. Hoang Van Loi – Vice Rector – stated: “FPT Polytechnic can train and provide short-term workforce solutions for Nisso, focusing on positions such as equipment installation, maintenance, and machinery repair. We will work with Nisso to build a specific plan to meet future workforce demands.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to implement a long-term cooperation roadmap aimed at training and sending highly qualified personnel to Japan for the semiconductor industry – ranging from senior chip design engineers to positions in equipment operation and maintenance.
