FPT Semiconductor mascot at the Grand Opening of the High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center
On March 27, 2025, FPT Semiconductor, a subsidiary of FPT Corporation with FPT inaugurated its High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center at Da Nang Software Park No. 2. The establishment of this R&D Center marks a concrete step in the collaboration between FPT Corporation and the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang, which was officially announced in January 2025. With a strong focus on research and development in high-tech fields such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI), this collaboration aims to bring together over 500 top technology experts in 2025, with further expansion in the future.
The launch event was attended by Da Nang Government Leaders from various departments, representatives from major technology enterprises, and leading universities in the region.
A “Tech Hub” for High-Tech Products under the “Chip Make in Vietnam – Made by FPT” Vision
FPT’s High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center in Da Nang is set to become a “tech hub” – a birthplace for high-tech products bearing the hallmark of “Chip Make in Vietnam – Made by FPT.” The center aims to develop 10 highly applicable new products annually. This pioneering initiative in semiconductor research and development is a crucial milestone in FPT Corporation’s broader technology ecosystem and a key driver for FPT Semiconductor in Da Nang. Beyond its core mission, the center is also envisioned as a hub for connecting businesses and startups, supporting knowledge-sharing in high-tech product development, and fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation within the current economic landscape.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, CEO of FPT Corporation, expressed his pride: “We are honored to be a technology enterprise with over 20 years of partnership with the beautiful and dynamic city of Da Nang – a prime location for technological advancement in Vietnam and the region. In recent years, FPT has intensified its strategy to develop new technology products, including chip design, power management chips, and AI technology. We also take pride in having built an ecosystem of over 200 ‘Made by FPT’ technology products and services.”
Mr. Khoa further emphasized that semiconductors serve as the “lifeblood” of the market economy, as they are integral to all electronic devices. Recognizing this, the launch of the High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center in Da Nang is a crucial move for FPT Semiconductor, making it the first technology enterprise to establish such a research facility in the city.
“Silicon Bay” – Da Nang’s Aspiration to Become a Semiconductor Hub
With semiconductors as a key focus, FPT Semiconductor firmly believes that young talents are the key to Da Nang’s strategy to become a new semiconductor hub. In addition to its young and highly skilled workforce, Da Nang is also a key economic and trade hub with a tax-free zone. These advantages support the vision of transforming Da Nang into Vietnam’s “Silicon Bay.” FPT Corporation will work alongside the city in building research zones, developing technological solutions, training human resources, and creating job opportunities for semiconductor engineering students at educational institutions in Da Nang.
Through the launch of the High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center in Da Nang, FPT Semiconductor aims to solidify its commitment to advancing research and development in science and technology, fostering innovation, and driving digital transformation.
