On February 20, 2024, the “VLSI Physical Design Fundamentals” course organized by FPT Semiconductor and partner organizations successfully conducted the first course session, with the attendance of over 80 participants, including students, professors, and academic assistants from both Vietnam and the United States.
In the context of shortage of specialized personnel and the semiconductor industry gradually shifting towards the Southeast Asia region, Vietnam holds strategic advantages with favorable geographical location, political stability, well-developed infrastructure, along with maximum support from the government. This presents a “golden” opportunity for the Vietnamese semiconductor industry to make a breakthrough and actively participate in the global semiconductor supply chain.

Seizing this opportunity to contribute to workforce development, the “Fundamental VLSI Physical Design” course was urgently launched by FPT Semiconductor, in collaboration with leading educational and semiconductor organizations in Vietnam and the United States.

Immersed in an atmosphere of excitement, the first theoretical session of the “Fundamental VLSI Physical Design” course officially took place in , marking a significant step forward in the endeavor to cultivate a skilled workforce for the Vietnam semiconductor industry
The session was attended by more than 80 participants, including talented students selected nationwide, dedicated professors, and assistants from top educational semiconductor institutions in Vietnam and the United States.
The first class event on February 20, 2024 morning was honored to host the presence of:

– Da Nang University of Technology (DUT)

– University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University Hanoi (VNU)
– Le Quy Don Technical University (or Military Technical Academy)
– Talented students who underwent rigorous selection to receive 100% course’s scholarships.
Mr. Võ Xuân Hoài shared his thoughts in the first session of the course
The first course session began with a speech from Mr. Vo Xuan Hoai (Deputy Director of the National Innovation Center of Vietnam – NIC Vietnam). He emphasized the importance of the semiconductor industry and the crucial role of the training program in developing high-quality human resources.
With the expectation of enhancing the quality of personnel to meet domestic and international enterprise’s market demands, seizing development opportunities, the “Fundamental VLSI Physical Design” course is the result of investment, research, and development collaboration between reputable organizations in the semiconductor field: the National Innovation Center Vietnam (NIC), FPT Corporation, represented by FPT Semiconductor Joint Stock Company, Tresemi Organization from Silicon Valley, Cadence Corporation – the world leader in chip design, with the support of the University of Danang – University of Science and Technology (DUT) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Information Technology (UIT).
After a considerable investment in research and curriculum development, the course has successfully commenced, reflecting the efforts of FPT Semiconductor, as well as partner organizations to bring VLSI design concepts into practical application, contributing to the development of the domestic semiconductor industry.
