Singapore hiện đang tích cực xem xét và đưa ra các chính sách ưu đãi để lôi kéo Tập đoàn Sản xuất chế tạo chất bán dẫn lớn nhất thế giới của Đài Loan – TSMC, để góp phần xây dựng vị thế ổn định cho đất nước trong “cuộc đua” sản xuất chip tiên tiến.
Trong buổi họp báo công bố kết quả kinh doanh gần đây vào ngày 18 tháng 1, TSMC đã tiết lộ kế hoạch và tiến độ quá trình mở rộng quốc tế của mình. TSMC cũng bày tỏ sự quan tâm đến việc xây dựng một nhà máy thứ hai tại Nhật Bản, với dự kiến có thể bắt đầu sản xuất vào cuối năm 2024. Bước đi này tại Nhật Bản được cho là một trong những tác nhân góp phần thúc đẩy Singapore gấp rút tăng cường thêm các chính sách ưu đãi để thu hút TSMC đầu tư cho ngành sản xuất chip tại đất nước này.
Theo đó, các chính sách ưu tiên từ phía Singapore sẽ cung cấp các khoản giảm thuế và trợ cấp, bên cạnh sự hỗ trợ toàn diện của chính phủ về đất đai, nước, điện và nguồn cung cấp nhân sự tài năng. Bước đi chiến lược này đã thể hiện sự quyết tâm của Singapore trong việc củng cố vị thế của mình, hướng tới trở thành một trung tâm sản xuất bán dẫn nổi bật tại Đông Nam Á.
